Dr Protty is a Wales Clinical Academic Track (WCAT) registrar (StR) in Cardiology at Cardiff University and the Wales deanery.
He completed a PhD degree at Cardiff University as part of the prestigious Wellcome Trust GW4CAT Fellowship studying the role of procoagulant phospholipids in arterial thrombosis.
The focus of his research is on inflammation (bodily reaction to damaging irritants), thrombosis and haemostasis (clot formation in health and disease), as it relates to patients suffering from heart disease.
